Stanley Kubrick (/ˈkuːbrɪk/; July 26, 1928 – March 7, 1999) was an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and photographer. He is frequently cited as one of the greatest filmmakers in cinematic history. His films, almost all of which are adaptations of novels or short stories, cover a wide range of genres and are noted for their realism, dark humor, unique cinematography, extensive set designs, and evocative use of music.

Kubrick was raised in the Bronx, New York City, and attended William Howard Taft High School from 1941 to 1945. He received average grades, but displayed a keen interest in literature, photography, and film from a young age, and taught himself all aspects of film production and directing after graduating from high school. After working as a photographer for Look magazine in the late 1940s and early 1950s, he began making short films on a shoestring budget, and made his first major Hollywood film, The Killing, for United Artists in 1956. This was followed by two collaborations with Kirk Douglas: the war picture Paths of Glory (1957) and the historical epic Spartacus (1960).

Creative differences arising from his work with Douglas and the film studios, a dislike of the Hollywood industry, and a growing concern about crime in America prompted Kubrick to move to the United Kingdom in 1961, where he spent most of his remaining life and career. His home at Childwickbury Manor in Hertfordshire, which he shared with his wife Christiane, became his workplace, where he did his writing, research, editing, and management of production details. This allowed him to have almost complete artistic control over his films, but with the rare advantage of having financial support from major Hollywood studios. His first productions in Britain were two films with Peter Sellers, an adaptation of the Vladimir Nabokov novel Lolita (1962) and the Cold War black comedy Dr. Strangelove (1964).

A demanding perfectionist, Kubrick assumed control over most aspects of the filmmaking process, from direction and writing to editing, and took painstaking care with researching his films and staging scenes, working in close coordination with his actors, crew, and other collaborators. He often asked for several dozen retakes of the same shot in a movie, which resulted in many conflicts with his casts. Despite the resulting notoriety among actors, many of Kubrick's films broke new ground in cinematography. The scientific realism and innovative special effects of the science fiction epic 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) were without precedent in the history of cinema, and the film earned him his only personal Oscar, for Best Visual Effects. Steven Spielberg has referred to the film as his generation's "big bang"; it is regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.

While many of Kubrick's films were controversial and initially received mixed reviews upon release—particularly the brutal A Clockwork Orange (1971), which Kubrick pulled from circulation in the UK following a mass media frenzy—most were nominated for Oscars, Golden Globes, or BAFTA Awards, and underwent critical reevaluations. For the 18th-century period film Barry Lyndon (1975), Kubrick obtained lenses developed by Zeiss for NASA, to film scenes under natural candlelight. With the horror film The Shining (1980), he became one of the first directors to make use of a Steadicam for stabilized and fluid tracking shots, a technology vital to his Vietnam War film Full Metal Jacket (1987). His last film, Eyes Wide Shut, was completed shortly before his death in 1999 at the age of 70.

  Tu noć su kod njega, ušli sasvim tiho. Prvo su nečujno, kalauzom, otvorili vrata, zatim su se ušunjali u stan. Malo su razgledali da bi nakon toga ušli u spavaću sobu. Potpuno tiho su okružili njegov krevet. Neko vreme su ga nemo posmatrali, dok se on u snu meškoljio, sanjajući, najverovatnije, nešto lepo. Oni su stajali nemi u polutami. Okružili su ga kao statue. U crnim odorama sa crnim kapuljačama. Ti ljudi, muškarci i žene i možda još po neko, su bili svi do jednoga istetovirani u crno, njihova lica bila su crna, njihove oči bile su crne, njihovi jezici, bili su prekrojeni, podsećali su na jezike zmija i guštera i isto tako su bili crni, oblizivali su se, a zubi im se od crnila posebno isticali.

U jednom trenutku tišinu je prekinuo čovek, koji je imao crveno, istetovirano oko, po sred čela, i koji je uzviknuo: „Budi se, otvori oči!“. Posle njega i svi ostali su kao u horu uzviknuli: „Budi se, otvori oči!“. Čovek se probudi i upiša se od straha. Svi počeše da se se smeju na glas i svi skočiše na čoveka da ga seksualno zlostavljaju. Kada su se umorili, pitali su iscrpljenog čoveka da li želi da im se pridruži. Čovek pristade iz samo njemu poznatih razloga. Istetoviraše ga u crno, mestimično ga ukrasiše lažnim ožiljicma u raznim floroscentnim bojama. Na kraju kao glavni ukras on dobi rogove i našpicene uši.

Bio je spreman i da "radi".  Već sledeću noć, zajedno je sa svojim novim i jedinim prijateljima, krenuo u  akciju sličnu ovoj koju sam upravo opisao.

Recently transferred from Dečani near Monica, after 28 years living as a monk, Father Arsenie, Belgradian, a cult figure from the ’80-is, is now engaged in restoring and creating a spiritual and cultural center in the Monastery of Ribnica, which had been destroyed by the Turks in the 19th century. By reminiscing about his complex past, Father Arsenie takes us into his daily life: the scenes intertwine with his daily activities as a monk; prayer, service, and culturing Orthodoxy come first. Father Arsenie is also a very talented painter, writer, and sculptor, so as we listen to his answers to questions on faith and finding love for god, we also discover his artistic creativity. We learn of when and how he had found his meaning of life through Orthodoxy and complete dedication to the spiritual life as we hear about his transformation in New York, where he lived as a young man. This intimate portrait of a contemporary, unusual monk with a higher cause is accompanied by just as vivid, unlimited beauty of nature in the landscapes that surround the Monastery of Ribnica.

Присећајући се своје сложене прошлости, отац Арсеније нас уводи у свој свакодневни живот: сцене се преплићу са његовим свакодневним монашким активностима; молитва, служење и неговање православља су на првом месту. Отац Арсеније је такође веома талентован сликар, писац и вајар, па слушајући његове одговоре на питања о вери и проналажењу љубави према Богу, откривамо и његово уметничко стваралаштво. Nedavno premešten iz Dečana kod Monike, posle 28 godina monaškog života, otac Arsenije, Beograđanin, kultna ličnost osamdesetih godina, sada se bavi obnavljanjem i stvaranjem duhovnog i kulturnog centra u manastiru Ribnica, koji je nekada uništen od Turaka u 19. veku. Prisećajući se svoje složene prošlosti, otac Arsenije nas uvodi u svoj svakodnevni život: scene se prepliću sa njegovim svakodnevnim monaškim aktivnostima; molitva, služenje i negovanje pravoslavlja su na prvom mestu. En évoquant son passé complexe, le Père Arsénie nous plonge dans son quotidien : les scènes s'entrelacent avec ses activités quotidiennes de moine ; la prière, le service et la culture de l'orthodoxie viennent en premier. Arsenije Jovanović (Beograd, 13. septembar 1960) jeste srpski monah. Iguman je manastira Ribnica u selu Paštriću kod Mionice, pravoslavni besednik i publicista. Autor je knjige Bog i rokenrol.

Rođen je kao Aleksandar Jovanović, 1960. godine u Beogradu. Pradeda Josif Milutinović iz plemena Pipera, doselio se u Vranje i tamo oženio, a njegova ćerka je bila Aleksandrova baba po ocu. Njegovi roditelji su bili prosvetni radnici, a otac je želeo da Aleksandar postane oficir Ratnog vazduhoplovstva i protivvazdušne odbrane Jugoslovenske narodne armije.

Upisao je Treću beogradsku gimnaziju 1975. godine. Želeo je da upiše Akademiju likovnih umetnosti, ali je po očevim nagovorom odustao. Diplomirao je na Stomatološkom fakultetu Univerziteta u Beogradu, 1987. godine. Tokom studija, bavio se muzikom i družio sa najpopularnijim beogradskim i jugoslovenskim rok muzičarima toga doba, poput Milana Mladenovića, Bojana Pečara i Margite Stefanović, članova grupe Ekatarina Velika (EKV). Arsenije otvoreno govori o uticaju droge, naročito heroina, na tadašnji svet mladih i kako je većina njegovih prijatelja zbog toga izgubila živote. Priznaje i da je sam bio zavisnik i da je to jedan od motiva zašto često govori o štetnosti droge.

Preselio se u Bruklin (Njujork) 1987. godine, zajedno sa najboljim prijateljem slikarom Dušanom Gerzićem Gerom, koga je poznavao od šestog razreda osnovne škole. Tamo je postao deo istočnjačke sekte "Guru Maharadži", a postao je i instruktor transcendentalne meditacije. U Njujorku su upoznali hrvatskog fotografa Stefana Lupina i počeli da se druže sa njim.

Monaški život

Svetu Goru je prvi put posetio 1993. godine i iste godine počinje da živi kao iskušenik u manastiru Visoki Dečani. Zamonašen je 1994. godine i tom prilikom je dobio monaško ime Arsenije, po Svetom Arseniju Velikom. U vreme ulaska snaga KFOR-a na Kosovo i Metohiju, nalazio se u manastiru Visoki Dečani. Pošto je sa celim bratstvom ostao u manastiru, uzeo je učešća u pružanju lekarske pomoći povređenim srpskim civilima koje bi KFOR dovodio iz zone sukoba.

Dok Aanđeli Spavaju: "Bog i Rock&Roll" 

Iguman Arsenije Jovanović

Od 2005. do 2011. godine, živeo je u isposnici manastira Crna Reka, po blagoslovu episkopa raško-prizrenskog Artemija. Objavio je knjigu "Bog i rokenrol" 2006. godine, u kojoj, između ostalog, opisuje svoj mladalački život, vreme u Njujorku, svet droge i smrt svojih najbližih prijatelja.

Živeo je u manastiru Podmaine kod Budve od aprila do oktobra 2011. godine, kada je postao pripadnik bratstva manastira Ostrog. Vodio je nekoliko emisija na Radiju Svetigora, za koje je sam komponovao muziku, uz pomoć prijatelja Milivoja Petrovića, zvanog Miško Plavi.

Iguman manastira Ribnica u Paštriću je postao 17. decembra 2017. godine, a njegovim dolaskom je ovo ponovo postao muški manastir.

Bavi se slikarstvom, vajarstvom i ikonopisom, a svojim radovima pokušava dati pravoslavnu dimenziju. Na slikama koristi plavu boju, za koju veruje da je boja Svetog Duha.

And transforming into the dust

Grands hiboux chauves, regardant fixement.

Nuit collate.

Combien de chiens avez-vous récupérés ?

Toute la meute de rage.

Qui s'affrontent et se mordent les unes les autres.

Maudits crânes fêlés.

Temps de frottement de vos cheveux.

Et se transformer en poussière.

Il n'y a aucun espoir pour vous.

Seule pitié de vous pagayer.

Certes, le temps passe.

Et tous les visages vivants, mais gris foncé.

Air qu'ils employment.

Entendre et se demander où sont les jours.

De qui parlent les vieux.

Eux ils veulent les voir.

Ce sont des marins.

Bleu brumeux.
