"Sasvim Pouzdana Informacija"

28

Toliko o tome…

Tomahawk

Tomahawk is an American rock supergroup. They formed in 1999 when singer/keyboardist Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) met guitar player Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard) and the pair started swapping tapes with the intention of collaborating. Denison then recruited drummer John Stanier (Helmet), while Patton invited bass player Kevin Rutmanis (Melvins/ex-Cows). The group recorded three albums and toured extensively from 2000–2007 then went on extended hiatus, and reformed in 2013 with Trevor Dunn replacing Rutmanis.

I'll start by being honest. Tomahawk boasts a number of well-known performers and artists, including Mike Patton, a guitarist from Jesus Lizard (Duane Denison) and Kevin Rutmanis, who is apparently a bass-player for the Melvins.
I know none of these artists. I only know Mike Patton. I am only aware of Mike Patton's massive vocal range and his (at times) psychotic song style.
All this impressive line-up amounts to a very nice CD, but it is still reminiscient of Faith No More. Very similar riffs, very similar singing style (and it's not because of Patton, see Lovage for an example of how he can sing differently). The only different thing is the fact they barely use synths, and that's only different when compared to Angel Dust.
Is that bad? No. Not at all. I like Faith No More, and I like Tomahawk. Tomahawk as an album is a bit more refined, and a bit more mature. Maybe a little bit off-beat and less mainstream than Faith No More CDs.
Is it different? Is it avant-garde? The answer here is also a resounding No. It's a very well-crafted CD, but it's nothing new.
Buy it if you like Faith No More and you want more of it. Don't come in thinking this is another one of Patton's musical journies going astray (like his musical journies usually do).
As for the tracks themselves - I'd listen to "God Hates a Coward", a very catchy song which is guaranteed to keep you humming the riff for days after you hear it. I'd also listen to "101 North" and "Sweet Smell of Success".

Novel

1986

Forrest Gump is a 1986 novel by Winston Groom. The title character retells adventures ranging from shrimp boating and ping pong championships, to thinking about his childhood love, as he bumbles his way through American history, with everything from the Vietnam War to college football becoming part of the story.

Gump is portrayed as viewing the world simply and truthfully. He does not know what he wants to do in life, but despite his low IQ, he is made out to be full of wisdom. He says that he "can think things pretty good", but when he tries "sayin or writin them, it kinda come out like Jello". His mathematical abilities as an idiot savant and feats of strength lead him into all kinds of adventures.

In 1994, the story was adapted to movie form and a film of the same name was released by Paramount Pictures. Forrest was played by Tom Hanks and the movie went on to win six Academy Awards.

 Mad Season "Above" (1995)

Mad Season was an American rock supergroup formed in 1994 as a side project of members of other bands in the Seattle grunge scene.[ The band's principal members included guitarist Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, lead singer Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, drummer Barrett Martin of Screaming Trees, and bassist John Baker Saunders. Mad Season released only one album, Above, in March 1995. Its first single, "River of Deceit", was a radio success, and Above was certified a gold record by the RIAA in June.

The band went on a semi-permanent hiatus in 1996 due to the band members' conflicting schedules and Staley's problems with substance abuse. Attempts were made in the late 1990s to revive the group without Staley, and material for a follow-up release to Above had been worked on; however, the band dissolved following the death of bassist John Baker Saunders in 1999 from a drug overdose. Staley also died of a drug overdose three years later. Martin and McCready have since made two short partial reunions, one in 2012 and one from 2014 to 2015. A special edition box set containing a remastered edition of Above and various unreleased material was released in March 2013.

Above (1995)

After gaining more popularity, the band recorded its only album and changed its name to Mad Season, which is an English term for the time of the year when psilocybin mushrooms are in full bloom, and a term which McCready related to "the seasons of drinking and drug abuse." The album, Above, which was recorded in Seattle, Washington at Bad Animals Studio (co-owned by Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart) and co-produced by the band and Pearl Jam sound engineer Brett Eliason, featured ten songs. It also included guest vocals and additional lyrics by Screaming Trees frontman and solo artist Mark Lanegan. McCready said, "We did all the Mad Season music in about seven days. It took Layne just a few more days to finish his vocals, which was intense since we only rehearsed twice and did four shows." The album was released on March 14, 1995 through Columbia Records to critical and commercial success. Over the course of 1995, Above scaled the Billboard 200, eventually peaking at No. 24 and spawning two singles: "River of Deceit" (#2 Mainstream Rock Tracks, No. 9 Modern Rock Tracks) and "I Don't Know Anything" (#20 Mainstream Rock Tracks). Above was certified gold on June 14, 1995.

In 1994, Alice in Chains’ Layne Staley, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Screaming Trees’ Barrett Martin and the Walkabouts’ John Baker Saunders came together to form Mad Season, venturing into hard-edged blues with their new project. The band released their only album, Above, the following year, but put things on hold soon after. Life took its toll, and Staley drifted away. The band tried to record a follow-up to Above in the late Nineties, but the personal troubles of Staley and the death of Saunders in 1999 put the band to rest. Staley would eventually pass away in 2002, and though Mad Season had worked on a sequel to Above, the tracks became lost...

Niko mi ništa ne može,

Tu je trik,

U trikou od majmunske dlake,

Kakav sam...

Svakako dostojno dobre seks bombe i bonbone.

Movies by Books 05 ::: Fight Club - David Fincher based on book by Chuck Palahniuk (1999) psychological thriller / Trailer | 20th Century FOX

Fight Club
Book

Fight Club is a 1996 novel by Chuck Palahniuk. It follows the experiences of an unnamed protagonist struggling with insomnia. Inspired by his doctor's exasperated remark that insomnia is not suffering, the protagonist finds relief by impersonating a seriously ill person in several support groups. Then he meets a mysterious man named Tyler Durden and establishes an underground fighting club as radical psychotherapy.

In 1999, director David Fincher adapted the novel into a film of the same name, starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. The film acquired a cult following despite underperforming financially. The film's prominence heightened the profile of the novel and that of Palahniuk. The sequel Fight Club 2 was released in comic book form in May 2015.

Fight Club 3 was released in comic book form in 2019

In his debut novel, Chuck Palahniuk showed himself to be his generation's most visionary satirist. Fight Club's estranged narrator leaves his lackluster job when he comes under the thrall of Tyler Durden, an enigmatic young man who holds secret boxing matches in the basement of bars. There two men fight "as long as they have to." A gloriously original work that exposes what is at the core of our modern world.

Fight Club
Movie

Fight Club is a 1999 American film directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter. It is based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk. Norton plays the unnamed narrator, who is discontented with his white-collar job. He forms a "fight club" with soap salesman Tyler Durden (Pitt), and becomes embroiled in a relationship with a destitute woman, Marla Singer (Bonham Carter).

Palahniuk's novel was optioned by Fox 2000 Pictures producer Laura Ziskin, who hired Jim Uhls to write the film adaptation. Fincher was selected because of his enthusiasm for the story. He developed the script with Uhls and sought screenwriting advice from the cast and others in the film industry. He and the cast compared the film to Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and The Graduate (1967), with a theme of conflict between Generation X and the value system of advertising.

Studio executives did not like the film, and they restructured Fincher's intended marketing campaign to try to reduce anticipated losses. Fight Club failed to meet the studio's expectations at the box office, and received polarized reactions from critics. It was cited as one of the most controversial and talked-about films of 1999. The film later found commercial success with its DVD release, establishing Fight Club as a cult classic and causing media to revisit the film. In 2009, on the tenth anniversary of the film's release, The New York Times dubbed it the "defining cult movie of our time."
